Art Therapy

Image
Few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit a new exhibit at MOCA.  I decided to come here on a whim right after a hectic week of work preparing for holiday rush deliveries. After my many trips to downtown LA, I decided to take a spontaneous detour. To my surprise, it was exactly what I really needed to distress myself. It turned out to be a night of art therapy and visiting the museum was really an escape to another place in time where I can feel calm, relax and declutter my mind.  My face completely lit up as soon as I walk inside and saw the new exhibit called Room to Live curated by Bennett Simpson. MOCA Museum in Downtown LA - 250 S. Grand Ave. Los Angeles I took some snapshots below of the new exhibit, Room to Live  features selected room-scale works and in-depth single artist presentation.  The highlight was walking through  Marnie Weber's Giggle of Clowns that shows off a group of clowns mourning the loss of one of the characters. There's a sense of s

Magic Market Week - Vegas

Image
I recently returned from Vegas showcasing our Fall/Winter Collection at WWDMAGIC as part of the Emerging Designer Showcase.  I met buyers from some great stores and several will be carrying Mei Vintage handbags soon!  I also had such a great time meeting all of the talented designers.  There were 7 apparel designers and 4 accessory designers.  They all exude so much passion!  It was a really good experience and the highlight of this trip was learning about their inspiration and their personal journey of how they each started their own label. Calgary based fashion label,  Bano eeMee , design these buttery soft sexy leather jackets that immediately caught my attention. The designer, Aleem Arif was also chosen as the top emerging designer form the Emerging Designer Showcase.  He will receive a round trip ticket to Paris and meet and greet with the Galeries Lafayette women's buyer.  Congrats! What a great opportunity and I know Aleem's collection will be a hit! Clothing

Asian Inspired with a Twist

Image
The  Asian Inspired trend  has been going strong for few seasons now and looks like it will continue through Fall!  Designers like Prada, Entro, Emilio Pucci and  Dries Van Noten  have all featured Asian inspired trends down the Fashion runways focusing vibrant mixes of patterns including motifs, embroideries, luxurious silk pieces, as well as asymmetrical details.  These designer pieces are very inspiring so I have created a summer look to wear with the  mini Hermosa  crossbody made from softest leather and repurposed vintage kimonos.  I love incorporating traditional Eastern prints while giving it Western spin!  Also, adding accessories are the easiest way to update any look and give it a splash of color!  Each Mei Vintage handbag design was created  to be timeless so you can wear it for many seasons to come!!   Summer is just around the corner and I can't wait to enjoy all the fashion and fun that summer brings!! 1. It's time to shake off that winter blues and gear up for spring! Daylight saving time has arrived and that means I get to enjoy an extra hour of daylight! There's always so much to do in a day.  Now with one extra hour of daylight I can unwind and relax at the beach.  February has been a busy month for Mei Vintage.  I recently came back from WWDMAGIC Tradeshow in Vegas as part of the emerging designers showcase.  We were there to introduce our new collection to buyers that came from all over the world.  In fact, my booth neighbor Christie of Ndau Collection came all the way from Zimbabwe, Africa! Their jewelry collection is inspired by African culture using rare antique African trade beads, precious and semi-precious stones, exotic leathers and treasures they find in their travels.  It was a blast meeting and sharing stories with all my new designer friends!    You can read about WWDMAGIC emerging platform here , which include a review about Mei Vintage collection. Happy 2013 and Enter to Win!

Good Bye 2012 and hello 2013! This year, instead of making new year resolutions that I can't seem to keep, I've decided to stick to one single goal, which is be appreciative of the little things around me. That includes reminding myself to give thanks and think positive.  We all have so much to be thankful for.  For me, I am thankful for my health, having a supportive family and being able to wake up every morning and do what I love! To show my appreciation, I would like to kick off the fashionable year with our first giveaway!  I am happy to be giving away the Hannah crossbody (color gray)! It's one of our popular bags because of its half moon shape and  versatility!  With a detachable shoulder strap and roomy zip pockets it's the perfect bag that can take you from casual to dressy!  Simply leave a comment BELOW by January 27 telling us which pieces on Mei Vintage website are your favorites, including what to wear with them! We will be drawing ONE lucky winn
